Mel is responsible for the overall management of the technical department, project design and technical resources.

He trained as an electronics apprentice at the Royal Aircraft Establishment prior to attaining a BEng degree in Electronics with Computing Science. He spent 23 years at MoD Boscombe Down in the test and evaluation of military aircraft, both for MoD and subsequently for QinetiQ, where he performed several key roles including Business Group Technical Manager and Head of Capability for electrical and avionics systems.
Qualifications: BEng Electronics with Computing Science. Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Nigel is responsible for all aspects of Marine Services including maintenance, refitting and repairing.

Nigel is recognised within local industry as the face of the company for Marine Services. He is responsible for all aspects of Marine Services; including tendering of new business, scheduling of slipways and Production Manager of the team.

He has 36 years’ experience in the Marine and Energy Industry having started his career as an apprentice plater and welder. His experience ranges from construction of marine structures, jetty refurbishments, fabrication, installation of buoyancy tanks, dry dock gate maintenance and repair, ship repair and new build, fabrication of structural steelwork and pipework for oil, gas, petro-chemical, LNG and powerstation sites.

From initial design stage Gavin incorporates hull form development, scantling/structure derivation, powering prediction, stability analysis, sea-keeping analysis, through to the creation of general arrangements and machinery arrangements in accordance with relevant flagstate regulations and classification society rules.

Qualifications: MEng in Ship Science with Yacht and Small Craft Design, Southampton University. Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects.

Simon is in charge of all marine electrical and electronics activities, from undertaking the design engineering of systems to ensuring that the all technical requirements of the project are achieved.
Simon has over 35 years’ experience within an engineering environment, initially starting his career as an Air Engineering Mechanic with the Royal Navy, then a Marine Electronics Engineer and Radio Surveyor at Marconi Marine. He has spent the past 13 developing his skills at Mainstay which includes designing, installing, commissioning and maintaining electrical, navigation and communication systems.

Working towards IEng. Qualifications include British Marine Electrical Technician and Advanced Marine Electronics Installer.

Alex manages all aspects of a build to ensure targets are met.

Alex is responsible for the overall management of projects, ensuring client technical requirements are met and communicating these requirements within the project team. He is also responsible for setting out project milestones and managing project change.

Alex began his career in the marine industry in 2010 with Mustang Marine (Wales) Ltd, based in Pembrokeshire. During this time, he was heavily involved with design and installation of the mechanical systems on new build vessels. In 2014, Alex became Project Engineer for Tidal Energy Ltd who successfully built, installed and operated a subsea electricity generator connected to the national grid in Wales.

Qualifications: MEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering.

In this time he has have gained invaluable experience and expertise in all aspects of boat building systems, engineering, fabrication and operation of vessels.
